Plantation Memories: Dance Video/Film/Reading Sonntag 5. Juli. um 19 Uhr
Postcolonial Literature, Film and Dance - at Academia Jangada (Berlin -Mitte)
The author Grada Kilomba will read from her new book: "Plantation Memories" short stories of everyday racism intercalated with the visual work of the dance performer and choreographer Ricardo de Paula:"In" - a poetic film on dance and memory.
Last summer we organized the project “Let´s go to No-Go!” together with our Italian, Polish, Slovak and French partner-groups.
For a better imagination you can watch the following videos:
Let's go toNO-GO! (part 1)
Let's go toNO-GO! (part 2)
Let's go toNO-GO! (part 3)
Based on this work we will continue to go further into the theme of racism.
Our slogan again is called “Diversity is better than simple-mindedness!”
Our approach is an interdisciplinary in the sense that we will work with Capoeira Angola, traditional brasilian as well as contemporary dance, dance improvisation and theater.
To create that performance we connect the different cultural and ethnic backgrounds of all our members to this one collective message against racial intolerance.
The performance that we create in workshops and discussions is going to be presented on the last three days of the project at different public places in Berlin.
If you are interested to join this new anti-racism-project, you can ask via email (info@jangada.com) for further information of the whole programme.
